World Chmpships 97

Western Australia on the International Scene.
WORLD CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS : Bunbury - November 9 - 16 , 1997.

This was the first time the World Croquet Championships had been held in the Southern Hemisphere. Bunbury was given the honour of hosting the 7th World Championships. The other venues being Hurlingham Club, England for 89,90 and 1991. Newport, USA for 92, Garden Park - Cheshire,England for 94 and Fontenay-le-Comte, France for 95.
There were forty players from various croquet playing countries divided into 8 blocks of five. The favourite, Robert Fulford of England went on to win the Championship over Stephen Mulliner with the final championship scores of -
26-9,23-26,26OTP-17,26-15.
